FocusDown ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account to use social features, we collect:

• Display Name: The name shown to other users on leaderboards and in social features
• Username: Your unique identifier for friend connections and challenges
• Anonymous User ID: A unique identifier for your account (not linked to personal information)

Usage Statistics

To power leaderboards, challenges, and your personal progress tracking, we collect:

• Total focus time and session counts
• Current and longest streaks
• Level and XP progress
• Focus session data (duration, tags, optional mood and notes)

Social Features

If you use our social features, we store:

• Friend connections and friend requests
• Challenge participation and results
• Leaderboard rankings
• Referral codes (for inviting friends)

Device Information

We collect limited device data to improve the app experience:

• Device model and operating system version
• Screen size and app version
• Push notification token (if notifications are enabled)
• Anonymous device identifier for analytics

App Usage & Preferences

To personalize your experience, we collect:

• Feature interactions and screen views
• Soundscape and music preferences
• Pomodoro settings
• Onboarding selections and goals
• Session timing patterns (morning, afternoon, night)

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Operate FocusDown and provide social features (leaderboards, friends, challenges)
• Sync your progress across devices
• Understand usage patterns and improve features
• Send you notifications (if enabled)
• Process subscriptions and purchases
• Provide customer support

Device Sensors

Motion Detection: We use your device's accelerometer to detect when your phone is placed face-down to automatically start focus sessions. This sensor data is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate FocusDown:

Supabase: Our cloud database provider that stores your account information, usage statistics, and social features data. Data is stored securely with encryption.

RevenueCat: Manages subscriptions and in-app purchases. Receives an anonymous user ID and subscription status. Does not receive personal information.

Mixpanel: Analytics service that helps us understand how the app is used. Receives anonymized usage data. Analytics is disabled in development builds.

Expo: Powers push notifications. Receives your device's push token to deliver notifications.

Apple Music / Spotify: If you connect a music service, we request access only to play music during focus sessions. We do not access your music library data beyond what's necessary for playback.

Data Storage & Security

Cloud Storage: Account information, social features, and synced statistics are stored securely on Supabase servers with encryption.

Local Storage: Session history, preferences, and settings are stored on your device with built-in security features.

Analytics: Usage data is transmitted securely to our analytics providers.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only:

• With other users as part of social features (your username, display name, and focus stats appear on leaderboards)
• With our service providers (listed above) to operate the app
• If required by law

Your Rights

You have control over your data:

• Update your display name and username in the app
• Control notification preferences in Settings
• Delete local app data by uninstalling or clearing app data
• Delete your account directly in the app under Profile → Account → Delete Account

Children's Privacy

FocusDown is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.
